The Center for Russian Jewry with Student Struggle for Soviet Jewry was the first to develop a mass grassroots movement, especially in New York, with the slogan "Let My People Go." Later, it added "Let My People Know" (their heritage) to its advocacy and this is now the main thrust of its work, carried on by Jacob Birnbaum, jacob.birnbaum.sssj@gmail.com, its founder and director.
